Lloyd grew up in a very blue-collar household; his dad and mom owned a small carpet and cleaning business in Independence, Missouri where Lloyd worked in his high school and college days. The number-one lesson his parents taught him was to find a way, any way, to become your own boss as well.
Because when you’re your own boss, you’re free—and no one can put a cap on what you make. That was stamped into Lloyd’s brain from the time he was a little guy. As was the fact that his dad loved his job. Lloyd means, crazy loved it. He told him that if you find work you loved, everything else in your life would fall into place. And today Lloyd can honestly say “I did both: got to be my own boss AND created the job that gets me excited to wake up in the morning”. (It helps that going to the office means walking down the hall to his home office!) Plus he could now start enjoying his boat!
OK, so he had that period of time being in corporate America. Lloyd’s first job out of college was working for an automotive ignition manufacturer and as he was promoted was able to see much of this beautiful United States; however was never home to enjoy his son as he grew.
After 10 years in the automotive aftermarket he entered into the retail auto business where Lloyd moved up the ladder and eventually became the General Operations Manager for both the auto business and the marina business. Lloyd’s income was substantial, his responsibilities were large and his time was zip! Even with the income Lloyd was making he was still working for someone else, and he couldn’t help thinking of what his parents always said. Lloyd was away from his family when he wanted to be with them badly—especially my love for boating, my beautiful wife and my son.
Lloyd’s ideas were sometimes overshadowed—inevitable in a corporate America company. Now he really had no time of his own. This is where he began his search for an alternative and the Internet was my answer.
Lloyd’s biggest worry, though? Once he reached a certain point, there was no more “up.” So he decided to burn his bridge. His research on the Internet sparked the excitement that the Internet could provide a solution to his situation and his desire to be his own boss, do what he wanted to do, when he wanted to do it and where he wanted to do it. And so Lloyd did! He burned his bridge, and left an executive position in the auto and marina business to start his own Internet business. It was scary and exhilarating and stressful and wonderful all at once: everything starting a business should be.
Lloyd started his www.MarketingTrafficSecrets.com journey with many long hours learning, applying and many times failing. He started a blog, too—and recorded his first cringe-worthy videos. But even those early videos were game-changers.
Lloyd went back to his early career as an artist in 2013 as a result of his free time to do what he wanted to do, when he wanted to do it and where he wanted to do it!
